Genius Hour Reflection #4 I have almost completed my genius hour project which was on Punjabi tradition and Culture. In my opinion my genius hour project is interesting because it reflects a lot of background information. Everyone will find my topic very interesting because this presentation may reflect some of your culture that you enjoy or you can just follow along and maybe learn some new things. My presentation will also include lots of information you may not have known so it is a chance of learning new culture, new tradition, new beliefs and thoughts.

Our project is on Gonorrhea. Gonorrhea is a sexually transmitted infection that can cause infertility. The bacterial infection is in the rise in Canada and is becoming increasingly resistant to antibiotics.
Gonorrhea is bacterial. A person can get gonorrhea in many different ways which include transmitted through oral, genital or when you have anal sex with an infected person. It can also be spread from a mother to her child during birth. The symptoms for men include : A burning sensation when urinating . A burning or itching at the opening of the penis . Yellowish white discharge from the penis. Painful or swollen testicles. The symptoms for women include : A burning sensation when urinating . Vaginal discharge. Pain in the lower abdomen. Pain during sex. Vaginal bleeding between periods and or after sex. You can treat Gonorrhea with pills and injections. Some new concepts that I have learned are some of the traditions that the punjabi culture has. I also really like to learn about those traditions and what you can do on those occasions because in my opinion there is always something new you can learn while researching because there is so much information and it takes time to learn it. My skills have inproved because now I know where I can get my information because once I find a site and then I can search many things on it. THIS helps because then you know that you can just go to that site and research whatever you have to research.
The sites that helped me the most were :google and wikipedia. Google helped me by allowing me to search things and google gives you multiple websites that can show you the information that you are looking for. Also wikipedia gives you information on that one topic that is explained very well and it also gives you other websites that may have something related to your topic or something that is the same as your topic. I think the project that I am doing for my genious hour is going to be layed out nicely and I hope that people will enjoy my genious hour because they will learn many new things about my culture if they have not already learned them. I also hoped that you enjoyed reading my genious hour reflection. :) My experiences so far are, learning the different kinds of traditions of Punjabi culture also on how to learn the different kinds of arts of the Punjabi culture. I selected this area for genius hour because I love to learn new things about my culture, and to look at the different kinds of arts there are to explore. Some concepts that I have learned so far are the different names people use for the names of the traditions and festivals, how to write in Punjabi and festivals that everybody celebrates.
My summary for my career is that for teaching you need to have a bachelors degree,teacher training program these two things can take about 3 or 4 years.The main duties would be tutoring children, preparing lessons, watching and caring for the kids, helping the kids and dealing with some of their problems. Each class you teach will be about 27 to 30 students. The working hours are part-time or full-time.The salary for this job is 17 dollars for 15.0 hours per week.The rates for employment have increased slightly meaning there are more job openings. Once you start to write lessons for the kids and hand them out later you will have to mark all those papers which takes a lot of patients and i think i have lots of patients. I think this job will also suit me because i am passionate,patient,reliable,trustworthy,mature and lots more. I am interested in doing this career because i am interested in working with kids because they are so fun to play with and teach, they are always full of energy and it just feels nice sometimes to be around them. I am suitable for this job because i love to help people learn new things, also to do new things, so i think this career would be good for me. One of the skills that you will need is communication skills.Some schools that teach or train this teaching program are SFU and online courses that you can take from home.There are different types of teachers for example there is a library teacher, music teacher,class teacher,substitute teacher and a lst teacher. I think this career will also suit me because when i was in elementary school i used to have so much fun, so i miss it so i could be a teacher and enjoy all of these things again. I am concerned about whether I will still want to be an elementary teacher in the future.In conclusion this is my blog post about being an elementary teacher and why I chose this as my career.   Genius Hour Reflection The topic that I have selected for genius hour is, how to write in Punjabi, and where the writing came from. I hope to gain knowledge on how to write in Punjabi, where writing came from and to learn how to write the alphabet. So far I have learnt that the writing from Punjabi culture came from a language used to write the Guru Granth Sahib, called the Gurmukhi. I have started to learn how to write some words in Punjabi like school,home,family and friends. I chose this topic because even though I know how to speak Punjabi I still want to learn on how to write it very well so that I could get further knowledge in my culture. My hopes for the final product for my genius hour project is that I hope to be able to show people how to write in Punjabi and teach others so that they could learn a little more about the Punjabi culture. I also am going to include how to be able to tell people where the language of writing came from and the aplphabet. My biggest support so far has been my family, friends and wikipedia. Do schools kill creativity? I think it may have a little bit of an effect on it. Everybody has a different view on this topic but i will tell mine. Some things that i agree with are how teachers want to teach also have an effect on creativity as well, for example all teachers teach differently , take for instance some teachers tend to be a little more strict rather then teachers that choose to teach in a fun and easier way , in which they think that the students learn everything the same way but just easier.
Also all the different grades and classes are not together but separate, each class also has its own time. This may also have some effect on creativity. I also have an opinion which states that school is harder in many more places like India and was more harder when we weren't even born, and now it has gotten easier for us. In my words creativity is a way in which you can have fun, express your inner self and enjoy what you put effort into. Some teachers also tend to put loads and loads of homework on the students and lots of tests which also have a effect on creativity. All students are different, for example some learn while the teachers are teaching while others learn by reviewing the notes and studying, and others just automatically remember everything. Sir Ken's video also should have told us some ideas in which we can bring back creativity. Also phones, i pods and all electronic devices have an effect of distracting the students that bring the electronic devices. Something that I disagree with is that all the classes all the classes are in different rooms but they should be in one class instead. This is my opinion on this topic. |
